Invisalign in Loves Park IL
Invisalign is quickly becoming a popular alternative to traditional braces. It is a custom and unique dental aligner system that will digitally correct orthodontic issues such as the alignment of the teeth or jaw. The result of innovative technology, it has been evolving and improving over several decades. Invisalign is a corrective option for quite a few alignment issues, including gaps, crowding and overbites. Invisalign will now address many of the same issues that traditional braces have done. The Invisalign system is created with clear, plastic aligner trays that are worn over your teeth. The plastic trays are worn daily and are replaced every two weeks to continue advancing the digitally corrective treatment.

The Invisalign technology has been researched for more than 20 years and has produced 700 patents worldwide. It may seem like new technology, but it has been researched, assessed, tried, and proven successful. Invisalign trays are comfortable, durable, and are removable. Invisalign has successfully corrected smiles for over four million people around the world.
The Difference between Invisalign and Traditional Braces?
Invisalign and traditional braces both perform the same function, but there are demonstrable differences. Each method still has benefits and disadvantages. Traditional braces are still used to correct severe alignment issues that Invisalign cannot correct. The cost of traditional braces is also less than Invisalign, depending on the amount of correction and time needed.
The single primary difference is the materials used. Traditional braces are made with metal or enamel, while Invisalign is made completely with translucent plastic. If you are physically active, you can risk injury to your cheeks with the metal and wires used for traditional braces. This can be uncomfortable and can only be treated by Riverside Dental Center. Traditional braces are not removeable. They are difficult to clean and can be a nuisance depending on your lifestyle.
The Benefits of Invisalign
Invisalign offers corrective results without the annoyance that can come with traditional braces. The corrective trays are made of translucent plastic and are comfortable to wear. There are no wires which lowers your risk of injury to your mouth. The primary benefits include:
- Transparent- A primary benefit with Invisalign is that they are clear and accordingly discreet. Most people will not even notice you are wearing them.
- Removable- Unlike traditional braces, you can remove the Invisalign aligners to eat, drink, brush your teeth, take photos, or even for special occasions.
- Eat Your Favorite Foods- Since they are removable, there are no restrictions on what you can eat during your treatment. You just need to remember to put the aligner back in.
- Effective- Invisalign delivers proven results. It effectively treats an assortment of orthodontic conditions across all ages.
- Faster Treatment- Traditional braces might take a few years to complete your treatment. With Invisalign, you could get your alignment corrected in half the time.
- Healthy Smile- A straight smile is a healthy smile. Having a properly aligned bite makes it easier to clean and care for your teeth and to maintain good oral hygiene.

The Invisalign Procedure
Receiving Invisalign treatment begins with a consultation at Riverside Dental Center. Our team has expert training with this system. At this initial evaluation, we take digital images of your teeth and your mouth. These images become the start, or point A, in helping us design your treatment plan. Once your personalized plan and goals are established, we introduce the amazing technology. A 3D CAD/CAM system uses the digital images we have captured to create a series of plastic trays that are designed to apply pressure to your teeth, just like traditional braces. We will use this digital technology to show you an image of our goal, or point B, before we even begin.
Based on your treatment plan, you will be provided the trays that must be replaced every two weeks. Each tray will move a tooth or teeth .25 millimeters. Methodical movement without the discomfortable of the braces. We will schedule appointments every two months to monitor the improvements to confirm it is proceeding according to your treatment plan.
It is imperative, to achieve the desired goal in your plan, that you must wear your aligners at least 20-22 hours a day. They are removable, but this benefit must not be abused. You need to track the time they are out of your mouth, or you will be extending the duration of the procedure.
