Establishing a Healthy Start for Young Smiles

At Riverside Dental Center, we do not believe adults are the only ones who deserve high-quality, honest, and reliable dental care. Children can also benefit, especially since their teeth, gums, jaw, and bite are still growing. Our dentists welcome patients as young as three years old and will closely monitor the changes that occur throughout childhood and adolescence. We provide early detection of cavities, tooth decay, gum disease, and bite misalignment, and a safe and comfortable environment for kids to enjoy. Contact our team if you have a child who could benefit from our services.

Kid’s Dental Checkups & Cleanings

Starting at the age of three, we perform six-month dental checkups and cleanings on children as a way to build a strong foundation for what will one day become their permanent smile. These visits allow us to not only examine and clean your child’s teeth and gums but also make oral hygiene fun for them. Your child will learn the importance of practicing good dental habits at an early age, and we’ll even advise on ways to curb non-nutritive habits (i.e., pacifier use, thumb sucking, etc.) should it be required.

Dental Sealants

Dental sealants are one of the most effective forms of preventive treatment, especially for children who are still learning how to properly brush all of their teeth. The clear protective coating that is painted onto the molars and premolars guards against cavity-causing bacteria that might otherwise penetrate the various pits and grooves. As a result, your child will maintain a healthier smile for up to 10 years!

Athletic Mouthguards/ Sportsguards

As a parent, watching your child play sports can be enjoyable. It’s even more satisfying when you know they are properly protected during the big game. With a custom athletic mouthguard from our Riverside Dental Center team, their smile will remain shielded from excessive pressure caused by hard hits. Instead of rushing off to the emergency dentist’s office, they can spend more time playing and scoring points – all with a mouthguard that is snug-fitting and comfortable to wear.

Lip & Tongue-Tie Treatment

If a restricted band of tissue exists behind your child’s upper lip or underneath their tongue (lip or tongue-tie), our team can address the lack of oral movement with a frenectomy. Performed with the help of our dental laser, this fast method of treatment can restore your child’s ability to eat solid foods, breathe through their nose, and even speak without a lisp - physical and psychological benefits that are truly priceless.

Special Needs Children’s Dentistry

Children with physical and developmental disabilities (special needs) are welcome in our Loves Park dental office. Our dentists are trained to provide the same exceptional service and care should your child require special accommodations while receiving one of our many forms of treatment. We not only take our time but also provide our therapy dog, Spoon, to create a safer and more comfortable space, if requested. In some situations, our team may need to refer a child to a local pediatric dentist for more extensive care.
